Emissions trading

Since the introduction of the environmental guidelines set in Kyoto, nine core industries within the UK now have Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission targets they have to meet.

The industries covered by these targets are the manufacture of:

Glass
Lime
Steel
Coke
Cement
Ceramics
Pulp/paper
Power generation
Refining

These targets come in the form of EU Allowances (EUAs), which can be bought and sold on the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).

Bayford is one of very few oil suppliers with experience of trading on the ETS, and we offer our customers a complete broking service for EUAs. This means:

Bayford can purchase on the ETS exchange for companies that are short of EUAs. This allows companies to hit emissions regulations
For companies who have an excess of EUAs, Bayford can sell these on the exchange. This allows us to create an incremental income stream for our customers
