28 April 2008 - Fuelling Graduates

As one of the UK’s largest independent oil companies, we do not only take pride in our continuous business growth, but also in the development of our graduate employees. Joining Bayford in August 2004 was Femi Olu-Adeleye, who studied at Leeds University.

‘The company has grown every year since I’ve joined and I am happy to go to work everyday’, he says. Femi believes that employing graduates gives the company a wider perspective on decision making. That message is echoed by fellow graduate scheme member, Joe Tuhoy, ‘We are keen, energetic and can bring fresh ideas to the table.’ Joe studied at the University of York and has benefited from further training at Bayford, gaining an extensive knowledge of the diverse nature of Bayford’s business

The Graduate Scheme is made up of six separate placements, each lasting six months before graduates are assigned to one department permanently. By the end of the programme, applicants who perform well are promoted to Team Leaders. David Dykes, also a graduate from Leeds University, believes the scheme enables Bayford to extract the ‘cream of the crop.’

Bayford’s forward thinking approach has seen us recently awarded with the Investors in People Award and a spot in the Sunday Times Top 100 companies to work for in 2007, following on our 2006 success. Now with Bayford’s current Managing Director, Liz Slater, as one of our first trainees, our successful Graduate Scheme has become one more accomplishment for us to be proud of.
